Ive just bought my first set of 50mm section wheels, and have just realised i need longer valves on the inner tubes, or valve extensions?

the valve extensions im looking at dont seem to have a valve in the end of them, so im not understanding how they work. can someone enlighten me please?! do i have to have a removable valve core?

confused!
thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

You loosen the end bit on the valve- like when you are going to pump up the tube- don't remove the core. Then put the extender on, then you can pump it up. If you need to deflate the tube you can poke a tiny Allen key in the extender.

It depends on the valve extenders - but the ones I've used (Planet X) do involve unscrewing the valve core from your current tubes, popping the extender on and then screwing the valve core back into the end of the extender.
Schwalbe and some Continental tubes have removable cores, look for little flat sections on the threaded part where the valve cap screws on...

Thanks guys, i have ordered some continental extenders, no need to purchase new tubes with removable cores with these, they have one in the end already. always worth asking the question ๐Ÿ™‚

I found the extenders very unreliable when pumping up. I just bought some 80mm valve tubes
