[#3994889]

First ride with my 2012 Revs yesterday, set at 130 on my old Soul - what a f88cking joy to ride with proper forks again (killed my old 2006 set months back, but had to ride em into dust before I could afford the new) - trails came alive, was skipping about the place like a mountain goat (with slight fitness and weight issues) and generally loving it.

Cheers to Quest in Worthing for the setup as well.

Just remember to regularly clean and oil/grease this one regularly, replace o-rings and seals as and when, and it will be nice and plush till it dies. Far too many riders forks I've come across needed servicing so desperately I wonder how they enjoy riding ๐Ÿ™‚

forks are a bit like brakes.. they get worse gradually, so you don't realise how shit they've got. you crash or someone else rides your bike. you finally service them and oh wow wish you'd done it before. a well set up cheap fork often beats a badly maintained expensive one.. usually no need to change seals every time though, just keep them lubed up.

CAn anyone recommend a good cleaning method/lube? I ride in really horrible south downs winters that require a lot of cleaning, but i don't want to fill em with water etc.

Thanks

so do i Tim, i can recommend a couple of things:

1) get Mobil1 5w-30 synthetic engine oil for the lowers, it's a much better lube than suspension oil

2) get a mudguard that protects your stanchions like a Bender Fender, or make your own.

3) don't spray the forks, just wipe around stanchions with soft cloth and put some of the same engine oil there and cycle.

other than that its just regular lower oil changes.

Thanks Smiff - fender bender in the post as we speak. If you're ever near shoreham of a weekend, come by and ride the trails - good stuf in Steyning woods, chanctonbury etc.
