I don’t need one, I can’t afford one but my god I want one.
Would probably be awful to use here too so would need to move to Northern Europe. Oh well.
That is ace, worth popping a couple of kids out just to get one.
Really good looking Ecargo. Specs not too hot, plenty of scope for upgrading. But at £3 1/2k is a fair price for what you're getting.
thats a massive meh from me.
but this
single and fixie, steel frame and forks... that's got me coloured interested
I didn't realised they'd started selling that in the UK. I was seriously thinking of hopping on a ferry to get one from France. Ended up with a 2nd hand Radwagon in the end, the 26" wheel one. It's replaced our 2nd car.
Seems a lot cheaper in France

That single speed is 11.6 kilos before you add a rack and mudguards! Hi-ten lead frame I think. Cargo bike looks smart. Decathlon make very good bikes.

I never said i'd buy one its just interesting someone is making such a bike again.
And who in their right mind puts racks* and mudguards on a sweet ass fixie. coloured tyres maybe... but rack and mudguards? pffffft
*butcher bike style front rack being the obvious exception 😀
Really good looking Ecargo...
Wow - sure it looks very practical and I think the megamullet™ idea to keep the load low while retaining the benefit of a large front wheel is extremely practical, I'd not call it good looking!
I’d not call it good looking!
I was trying to be nice 😆

Just imagine if they'd gone 3x instead of radial on the front wheel!
Mind you it's only £250.
Well thanks now I want one. Looks like it would be a blast.
Looks great, that's a lot of bike for the money and definitely a better alternative to the radwagon. Sensible wheel sizes too.
Mind you it's 2.2m long, that'll be a bugger to store unless you've got a garage.
Not a lot of info on the motor and battery - I’d want to know more about warranties and spares before committing my readies plus it’s a thousand quid cheaper in France - Brexit bonus eh?
I have a longtail cargo bike, I really like this format
The Decathlon bike looks great, pretty good value compared with many too, though suspension front fork seems like a waste of time/money? The fact is comes with lots of accessories is a huge boon, the cost of those adds up very quickly
That's ace. It's like a Yuba Spicy Curry at half the price, and they're brilliant fun when you have two excitable kids out back and you're attacking French trails. Love it. Want it.
I actually wouldn't mind a suspension fork on our Radwagon. Not sure if it's the upright riding position but it does feel bumpy sometimes, even though I happily ride a hybrid or road bike without any suspension on the same roads.
Nice bike, 2800e in decathlon Spain, at today's rate c 2400 GBP.
Decathlon is normally cheaper in Spain, I pay 80e for the mt2 trail running shoes in spin, 80 GBP in uk.
So...
How can I (preferably legally 😁) buy one of these in France (Spain, Netherlands, delete as appropriate) and get it to Manchester, without losing the difference on transport and import VAT?

Go on holiday and purchase one. Ride it around enough to make it look used then bring it back in your ca... er, van as it's 2.2m long. Keep your fingers crossed you don't get collared at customs. Pretty convinced that wouldn't actually be legal, but **** Brexit.
2.2m isn't a huge amount longer than a long 29er - c. 2m for a standardish large with 2.5in tyres.
Only a couple of cm longer than XX longest Geometron.
The cargo bike is really interesting. Great that useful bikes are popping up from all kinds of suppliers.
But… at UK prices it will have to be pretty good to beat say a Tern Quick Haul for those that don’t need to carry two kids.
I don’t need one
you do. Cargo bikes are awesome.
If youre going to get an Ebike as a second car, you might as well get one that will swallow a full weekly shop.
And bring your christmas tree home with it, as a matter of principal.

Get the train (or fly) to Amsterdam, tram and bus to Decathlon in Amsterdam Zuidoost, or just the train to Alkmaar, buy cargo bike, enjoy some stroopwafels and frites met stoofvlees, then cycle to IJmuiden and the overnight ferry to Newcastle where you'll have a rented Transit waiting for you.
Looks nice,
I was looking at the Rad power equivalent:
https://radpowerbikes.co.uk/collections/electric-bikes/products/radwagon-electric-cargo-bike
which seems silly cheap at 1650. even if you add the same type of rack etc its still only 2k.
you do. Cargo bikes are awesome.
you might be right actually. I keep thinking about it, if it wasn’t for the fact that it’s almost exactly the same price as my motorbike cost brand new I might try and swing one.
Its got more carrying capacity, I could do most of the servicing myself doesn’t need petrol (although the motorbike doesn’t get through much) and no extra insurance or tax.
If the U.K. wasn’t such a crap place to be a cyclist I’d definitely have one.

I'd factor in some hydro brakes too, wouldn't fancy cable Tektros down a steep hill on a fully laden cargo bike... Still, that's only a hundred quid or so.
Only thing with Radpower is they use 22" wheels which can be a bit of a bugger to find tyres & tubes for.
Don't think this link has been posted?
Road.cc: Decathlon's R500 Electric Cargo Bike comes to the UK – although it's about £1k cheaper in France.

The other thing with that Radpower cargo bike is that even Radpower haven't been able to find suitable 22" tyres. 😉

Cable disks will stop you perfectly well, they just feel slightly worse than hydros.
What is interesting is the Shimano roller brakes fitted to my cargo bike that can have a total train weight of quarter of a tonne. Doesn't stop in a hurry.

Technically you could reclaim the VAT charged in the EU and pay it in the UK so it should only be duty. But that would require some cooperation from Decathlon.

My mate flew to Denmark to buy his cargo bike and then just rode it home back to Shrewsbury. Was certainly well used by the time he was boarding the ferry.

I believe its a moped size.

Oh, absolutely, I've been an avid, er, Avid BB7 user for many years. It was more the fact that the Tektro brakes specifically might not be much cop, rather than a comment on cable discs in general.
Still no bikes allowed on the Eurostar
