Been going back and forth last 4 weeks of which bike to get next…
I have a trek rail which I don’t ride much as my biking mates don’t emtb and I have an older Stumpjumper although last gen in the shorter travel variety 130/120. I ride mostly solo for fitness and fun, and the once a month group ride where it’s a mixed bag of bikes, I can’t get my head round which bike to get next, Levo sl which means I lose some of the rail weight but gain a geo and ride I love from my older Stumpjumper or just get a new Stumpjumper.
The other thing is when do the discounts kick in and do certain frame sizes sell out before the discounts. When did new bikes cost so much??
We are currently still in the longest period of new bike discounting of all time (probably).
Sounds like you need to decide whether you want an eeb or a neeb first though, and what don't you like about the previous-gen Stumpjumper? As that's still competitive with current trail bikes.
A couple of things, mine is short travel and would like a bit more, and electric shifting on my road bike is amazing, I keep looking at sram gx, I’ve fitted a bigger fork to my stumpy but it feels out of proportion with the rear shock so switched it back.
If you mainly ride either solo for "fitness and fun" and also "mates don't emtb" then i'd question why you have any emtb. I cant see changing from a heavy ebike to a slightly less heavy ebike would change any of what you said. If most of your fun riding is with your mates and you still want fitness then get the longer travel non eeb trail bike.
And i'm an eeb rider, so this isnt anti eeb waffle.
