I'm in the process of building up a MK1 for the summer. Once it is finished it will be my first ride in 2 years. To say i'm looking forward to it is a mild understatement.
If I love it, tempted to order a MK3 straight away and start another build, donating the MK1 build to mrs peterfile 🙂
This bike looks ace, I wish it was out sooner though 🙁
Gold? 8)
Yellow or aqua or white.
PLEASE do a fluro yellow! I'd be up for a raw one as well but obviously the finish durability is more important.
Reflective panel stickers and a nickel coated finish.
^^^ or that 😀
Bolder the better.
No massively keen on white, as its a bit on-one.
TBH Custard yellow should be an option. Always loved that.
Anyone know what size the frame is in the video please?
Choosing colours is doing my head in, as I was dead set on the raw/polished/clear coat.
Still thinking white (as the subtle option) and fluorescent green (as the bolder option - similar to Kwak green but brighter).
I think simple black stickers would go well with either colour, but may opt for the brushed alloy ones like I use on my other brand's frames, but in a different style/font: http://factoryteambikes.com/Factory_Team_Bikes/Pro_XXL.html
black stickers on a bright frame would look good, not sure about silver stickers on a bright coloured frame as won't they get overwhelmed?
When are you putting the pre-order link up on your site?
I'm not sure about the white, it looks ok on the smaller holeshot frame but I don't think it compares to the green
I really like the metallic grey used on the mk1 Alpines but if you want something bright I think the orange used for the PAs would go well, either that or purple
Loads of Dialled Bikes frames already out there in orange and that green. Time to give those colours a rest and come up with something new.
The metallic coffee of the PA29 prototype is really nice, but I don't think it would suit the Alpine.
Maybe I should just supply the frames raw, supply with a sticker set, and let people get them sprayed up themselves?
Pre-order link will hopefully be up on the site in about a week. Hopefully, I will have a completely new Dialled Bikes website within a week!
Why not two-layer the lacquer on the raw and mention it will change hue with age?
The coffee, was it like the old Santa Cruz Rootbeer? Mine was stunning. Still fresh IMO.

Would add a lot to the price of the frame if you had to factor in a respray!
My GF had a Giant Cypher which was a nice flat matt gold (anodised as it was an Al frame) which looked 8)
Please don't go for white, everything is white these days and I think used tastefully (saddles, maybe bashguards, occasionally rims, coughmybikecough) it looks good but whole frames start looking awful when they're covered in crud/chipped.
A polished/nickel finish would go down well I think.
I really like battleship grey.... goes really well with almost all the hope colours 🙂

I'm not sure I follow your logic here.
White frames look awful when covered in crud and chipped, but white saddles/bashguards/rims look OK when covered in crud and chipped?
I would have said the opposite, the parts you just listed (white plastic and leather in particular) start looking tired on my bikes long before the frame does.
White is a fashion-colour though. Its had alot of popularity but alot of brands are moving away from it?
My Meta5 is white. Its nice but I'd prefer a loud colour.
Frames are bigger than saddles/rims/bashguards so it's more noticeable!
true. i'm a tart though 🙂 can't say i've ever owned a frame long enough for it to start looking tatty!
I quite like white frames for building up, gives more flexibility to change stuff around.
white and grey as so ****ing dull though.
They are popular colours as they have been picked by accountants as the least offensive bland colour that won't upset anyone as they are always considered to be 'OK'
Why settle for 'OK' and middle of the road; why not go for something that is GOOD or even interesting rather the same old, same old.
RichC - If I went down the route of DIY paint jobs I know a very reasonably priced (and good) paintshop which does a lot of our team frames. £40 per frame, plus postage. So I would try to strike a deal for customers with them.
Hora - yes, like that but a bit darker and nicer. Don't think it would suit the Alpine though.

Surely the reason is because what colours are "GOOD" varies massively from person to person?
Make your new frame a bold colour and you run the risk of people not buying it because they think it looks rank. White/grey/black etc isn't as divisive.
I'd bet if you did a poll which said "would you buy a white frame" there would be fewer "no" responses than if you asked "would you buy a [insert bold colour here] frame".
Sure, it's boring, but they're trying to sell bikes, not satisfy a small percentage of the population's desire for owning a neon pink bike.
It costs relatively little to have a frame sprayed, so why not just do it yourself if you've got a fancy for a non conventional colour which never seems to be used on frames? In that case it's even better if no one mass produces a frame in your colour, since it makes your own bike even more unique.
Personally I'd love the opportunity to get hold of an unpainted frame and get it painted the colour of my choosing! Or even better, strike that deal with your local sprayer and we'll just send you the RAL numbers with our orders!

And that's why everything is starting to look like the same, as safe and dull go hand in hand, as too many people are happy to follow the herd rather than get some imagination.
Custom colours like Mike is suggesting for a small up extra cost would be good though especially if he could send them direct to the power coaters who would then send them onto customers, as that's the PITA part I/customer wouldn't like, as if you have a job, dropping a frame off and picking it up when you work 9-5 (or 8-7 🙁 ) can be difficult.
Also that would be a pretty unique selling point, and that way everyone is happy, as people with some imagination can have interesting colours, and the accountants/IT middle managers can get their frames sprayed beige or magnolia

I think that would be absolutely brilliant - a real selling point for Dialled.
Update the website so that you can view the frame in the colours available and you've got yourself one heck of a selling tool!
pick your own colour is fine, but dont underestimate the number of people who dont want to make yet another decision.
every frame should be available in matt black and 1 garish colour (kwaka green/tango orange/custard yellow) as standard, then for a small extra charge you can pick your own?
Possibly have a solution to appease most potential customers.
Will put something on the website or Facebook page later/this week.
cool
Awaiting the news nervously, I desperately want to put an order in!
If I remember correctly when the first Prince Alberts were available the pre-orders could be had in the colour of your choice... same again would be cool 8)
You have me hoping now messiah! Fingers crossed
Choose you colour is fine....what would it add timewise though?
Messiah, that was a logistical nightmare in the end. 100 frames in about 12 different colours, and two people wanted pink!
Tymbian, depends how busy the UK paintshop is I suppose.
I've put some details up on the Dialled Bikes Facebook page now.
Mike, you have made me very happy 😀
Matt flat colours loud decal choices.
