I am planning an early morning epic tomorow, has anyone had any interesting experiences? thoughts please?
It's the best time of day - quiet trails / roads, the security of knowing it's going to get lighter / warmer and that whole smug feeling of having got a head start on the rest of the population by playing out early!
Nothing better than finishing a damn good ride before most folks have even got out of the car. Plus I don't get a bollocking from the mrs because I still have most of the day to spend with my family ๐
Keep meaning to try this but can never send myself to bed early enough.
It's bloody freezing ๐ฏ
Best riding I do is alone with a rising sun.
Not many park rangers about either ๐
My wife is called Dawn. I'm keeping her for myself.
chiily. But I love dawn riding, Leaving for work at 5am, or heading home at 3.30, its the time i spend most on the bike. I tend to have a gentle SS pootle rather than a full on TT effort, though I keep planning on getting up extra early one day and getting some Personal best/KOM's nailed on traffic free roads!
I see a lot of foxes and drunk people walking home from clubs. I occasionally see odd things like a car on fire at the side of the road, a dog with a lead but no owner and a lass riding a bike naked, but I work nights, so this is all fairly normal to me.
tis the best time of day to ride, the birds singing, little traffic, air is fresh, a great way to start any day
Sophisticated foxes.

+1. Must try harder!
defo gonna give it a bash then! going to hit up a local hill with some sweet alpine style kickers and rock gardens
yeah foxes up here are well into clubbing. Ever since the hunters drove them out of the countryside they all moved into the city, bought loft apartments and work in media now.
Cannae be beat. Don't do it nearly enough like, as I'm way too fond of me pit.
Side effect of the bollox access laws in England is that they've got me out before sun-up on a few occasions. Every cloud an all.

Monkey Dust-- did a great skit on foxes-- two kids looking out of their window to see two foxes shagging on the lawn, as the camera pans out, there are three more foxes filming it, lights an all !
I did this today:
8am> Push up, ride down Puke Hill & Capelaw down into the woods & back out at Bonaly carpark.
Through Colinton Dell, up the other side into Craiglockhart then up & down Blackford hill.
Into town via canal, up Castle Hill from Tollcross and down Ramsay Lane onto Prices St then up & down Calton hill, down Jacobs Ladder into Holyrood for Arthurs Seat ( rock gardens by the ruins). Back up Royal Mile & down through Meadows to Canal at Polwarth.
Don't know when I got home, lunchtime ish, just enough time to put The Inbred away and get the Norco trials bike out.
More urban adventures on that.
I love Edinburgh.
cfinnimore, nice one man, i was ragging blackford this morning aswell? how do you like the kicker/style tabletop rocky feature just 200m away from the summit stone? also i have been trailbuilding all summer on arthurs seat, secret trail with 15 ft gap jump, 2 5ft+ drops and plenty of rock gardens.
There's a canal from Blackford hill into town? ๐
I used to have a job with flexi time and a shower. 10 am starts after a 40 mile road ride did a lot for my limited sanity during winter.
I was out the door at 6,, back home 10-30. Sun rise was superb, all showered etc before mates got out of bed. Spent rest of day with wife and daughter. Do this most Saturdays, does mean not getting mullered on a Friday but hey that not the end of the world
