According to the rules of the sport he should; I wish him a speedy recovery.

he shouldn't be riding professionally anyway

why? he's done more in the fight against doping than any other pro cyclist.

Back on topic, he's a tough lad, he'll be back in no time

So? He wasn't going to win anything anyway.

I'm pretty sure every clean stage and tour winner has done more. Millar is a sanctimonious arse, who's only sorry that he had to hold his hands up when the authorities started to close in on him. He was having a pop at Wiggins in the press only last year, and for why?

His book is brilliant, really good read and very interesting. The wiggins millar spat is silly but I'm sure they both have their reasons, he does talk about it in the book.

do they sit on WADAs athlete committee like Millar does? did any of them help set up the first pro cycling team that was totally anti doping?

and can you name a clean tour winner? I can name 1, possibly 2

I like Millar. Always sounds a bit brighter when he's interviewed than your typical sportsman.

I know this isn't what the topic was about but I always used to dislike Millar, for that very reason! Thinking he is only now chirping and harping on about drugs AFTER he got caught. I forced myself to read his book and boy was I impressed. I've spent some time thinking about it since, Dave BRAILSFORD is very anti drugs however he is the one person who stood by Millar (with exception of friends) and visited him in prison. I now admire the work Millar is doing to educate people about drugs in cycling, he never ever denied it from when he got caught. Unlike people like Dwain Chambers who constantly say they are innocent until finally caught.

Anyway point is Millar was in for surgery this morning at 0830 I wish him a speedy recovery.

+1 for what Munqe-Chick said. Hope he's fully recovered very soon.

For all those slagging him off for past mistakes...read his book. It's a riveting read.

When you consider new drugs like tb-500 and aicar, I wouldn't bet my life on any pro rider being clean. But this shadow has always hung over my love of the sport.

I have found Millar's arguments at times, even in the book, a little self-serving (basically saying that although it was his fault, it wasn;t REALLY his fault) but he does genuinely seem to have changed now. I also do find him interesting and articulate when interviewed.

I get that he thinks Wiggins rode on the backs of Garmin to get a big fat contract with Sky. Probably did too.
