[#3301598]

Just bought myself some shiny new wheels on an ebay site (en521 on gooold hope pro ll evo). £280 inc postage.... this is the cheapest i could find them.

Being a bit sceptical, i checked out some e-mail addresses and found it was dave hinde cycles and that they've had bad press recently..... wheels seem spot on so far - anyone heard anything bad about their stuff?

actually bought a full ultegra groupset 3 years ago and then a set of dura ace wheels at a later date.

the 'big' bloke there couldnt have been friendlier.

then again , never had problems with ribble either, maybe its me.

Worst online retailer I've ever used, he could take customer service lessons from Superstar. I wouldn't risk it, with wheels- dishonesty alone is bad in a seller but dishonesty and lunacy is not a good combination.

If you've got them already, I'd not worry. Heard Dave Hinde's wheels are actually pretty good, and their builder knows what he's doing.

The issue, as stated above, is when things don't turn up. He's known for selling items as "in stock" when in fact they aren't, and could well be months and months away...

I bought something off ebay from him, just before reading all the terrible reviews - it turned up and was fine though.

Bought a pair of custom wheels a few years back and they've been mint, cheap too.

As said above the guy is a legend amongst online and mail order retailers. For all the wrong reasons though! The storys are infamous, but how as he kept in business for like as long as I can remember must be over 20 years? Not many places good or bad stick about that long in this age. Guess it all comes down to price we are all tight bas....... and will always take a chance with a prick like that to save some money!

Well, it's also not a coincidence that they go to some length to hide their identity on various online sites.

Hmmm! Got torpedoed last Wed night front wheel looks like a pringle so figured I'd upgrade (slightly) from the OEM RS10's which I have to say a been excellent. Saw his ad for hope/mavic open pro's but think I'll go elsewhere, thanks for the info.

I'm one of those DH messed about. Basically I ordered some forks he obviously didn't have in stock and couldn't supply. After a month I rang the shop, was insulted, and they put the phone down on me. Luckily I'd used a credit card and they took the money back for me.

If DH was the last bike shop on earth, I'd give up cycling and walk.
