Thinking of doing this route, mapped it out and the figures look hard but doable but I don't know the area so any comments/recommendations valued.
Any spots/roads on there I should be avoiding?
sedbergh
garsdale
buttertubs
swaledale valley to reeth
arkengarthdale to tan hill
south through west stones dale
west through birk dale
Nateby
south through Mallerstang
back along garsdale to sedbergh

Fantastic route!

Quiet roads. Great scenery. Challenging climbs.

Enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚

Challenging climbs.
amen, 39x26 is lowest gear I've got, did butertubs once a long time ago with a granny ring, I may be doing a lot of suffering.

Cracking route.

Must get up to the Northern Dales at some point. Living at the southern tip Wensleydale is about as far as I make it usually.

Well that was fun, buttertubs was a bit mleh, steep up then too steep down, couldn't let the bike run and pick up speed, rest was nice undulating twisty roads, birk dale was fantastic, cracking bit of Tarmac. Would have been even better without the big headwind in garsdale, west stone dale and mallerstang (tho garsdale return leg was fun with a tailwind, will wait for a still day next time - or take someone else to take a turn at the front, junkyard Lowey and wors I'm particularly looking at you!
