[#7159982]

At home relaxing after a tough couple of days on the bike, was not to sure if I would get round this in two days, so decided to start in Dent on the Friday at 9.30am and hoped to enjoy the Day at the Dent music and Brewery festival on the Sunday.
Long day on the Friday finishing at 10.30pm weather was damp with a few hard showers, did not help when I left my waterproof jkt at Grassington after a few ales so ended up missing the last hill ๐Ÿ™ due to low mist and bad light , refuelled with fish n chips and bedded down on the floor of Skipton bike centre
Saturday started with the rest at 8am feeling tired and did not help when I was a minute behind the rest after wanting a nervous poo, so hoping to get dragged along was gone ๐Ÿ™
Weather was great for the Saturday as my sunburn proves, upped the ante and hoped to finish that evening but the route was a lot harder than I thought and ended up in my Bivi bag at 12.30am could not stop myself from having a few beers in Hawes licensing seemed slack ๐Ÿ™‚
Weather got worse and was forced back on the bike at 6am so hoped to get done in 48 hours which i did no thanks to the driving wind and rain for the last 15 miles!
Overall fantastic route and shame I could not claim it as a finish as there were a few deviations due to the `garmin going from blue to pink and wearing head phones so i did not hear the off course alarm!
Will be a few lads and lassies still out there home they complete and get home safely !
Big thank you to Stuart Rider and the Skipton Riders Centre!

Aye, twas good to ride with you for a bit Rich (I was the single speed near the back)! The route was pretty good for the most part with some "interesting" additions. In the end my body failed me at mile 100 and my mind had already gone, 30 miles on the road back to RCC with very bruised pride ๐Ÿ™
Next year! (With bloody gears!)

Looks ace. A mere 40 miler was enough for me yesterday though, good on those who put their bodies on the line for more.

I'm tracking Whitestone off here as he heads for home. Thinking about giving him the cowbell treatment on Barden Moor....

About 10am I think, still pretty pleased with 26 hours for 130 miles!

I swore my way up the Great Wold climb yesterday after 35 miles. I cannot contemplate it after 130, let alone with a singlespeed.

I bailed at Askrigg, was nowhere near the pace I needed to get round even by the end of today and then a mechanical on the descent into Askrigg took another hour out. When I realised I was struggling for time I had decided to just miss the top loop and do a "short course" version but after faffing with the bike I lost my motivation really.

I ended up having a brew in Bainbridge whilst deciding what to do and eventually went over Bainbridge High Pasture and back to Skipton via Buckden. Got back to the car about 2200hrs.

Next year though, next year!

Yep, on the way out of Skipton. Good effort on the rest of the ride, was a cracking day to be out.

I had a quick chat with you Rich as we were heading out through Embsay (Skipton CC top and riding a green Solaris).

Martin - it wasn't you on Barden Moor taking photos was it? By that time I really wouldn't have noticed cowbells ๐Ÿ˜›

That was one of the hardest things I've ever done! A war of attrition on the body. Provisional final time of 34:56. Note that this includes food stops and bivvying - the clock runs all the time. 8AM start

Saturday AM was really warm, got to Fremington in Swaledale in 7hrs20. Heading up Great Pinseat I got a cramp attack that was so bad I had to walk the flats, the wind was also increasing in strength at this time. Got a meal at the pub in Gunnerside (though 50mins from ordering to food on table is a bit ...) then rode over Buttertubs and up Cam Road to bivvy at the top of the descent to Newby Head at about 2345. Up at 4am having had maybe 3hrs sleep and away by 0435, rain started about an hour later as I was heading up Great Wold and the wind got even stronger. Leisurely breakfast at Feizor - the first pot of tea didn't touch the sides. Sun eventually made an appearance when I was at Malham. By this time I was walking just about anything that resembled a hill. Finished just before 1900.

Despite stuffing my face at any opportunity (the full breakfast at Feizor is something else again) I lost 4Kg.

If you are on Strava - here's the activity: https://app.strava.com/activities/335029417

Got home had tea and was in bed by 9pm - lightweight!

P.S. A big thumbs up to the Cafes at Horton and Feizor: riders turned up well before their opening times but they let them in and served them.

๐Ÿ™‚ A variation on the usual Sunday afternoon family stroll.

Turns out I shouldn't give up my day job and become an event photographer though.

There were a few confused and knackered looking riders (including Stu) wondering why the hell some randoms were heckling them in the middle of nowhere...

Was this you?

Yep that's my arse! So sore a baboon would recognise it as one of its own ๐Ÿ˜†

Rather oddly as I was heading down the descent off Barden I was thinking of your little incident and forcing myself to concentrate.
