Is this a good way to get onto the red route from Colvend ? Is there a better option ? Thanks.

When on our regular annual holiday near there, I've got onto the route from various points to just do a quick early morning 30min blast of parts of the route. I haven't accessed from your/that particular point, but don't see why you couldn't. Just pick up a route map from your nearest Tourist Info (or print it off from the 7 stanes website), then plan your own route. I can map read and have a good sense of direction, so found it no problem navigating shortened sections and access/exit via the many forest roads.
