Ive got a Edge 305 at the moment, but i like the idea off being able to use AA batterys with the Dakota, as i would be using it for touring as well as playing off road.
Does anyone have one?

The one im looking at has Topo Great Britain and City Navigator UK installed, are these okay maps?

One last thing, does anyone know if it has a HR function, as ive seen heart rate straps being sold that are for Dakota 10/20, but i cant find any info if the 10 actually has that function?!

Dakota 20 here. £160 from Field and Trek on one of their (seemingly) monthly 20% of everything sales. Full UK 1:50,000 UK os mapping micro sd card off ebay for £100.

12 hours + using rechargable batteries. I think its great for navigation from the bars, have used for big all dayers in the scottish back and beyond and left map & conpass in pack. Allows me more time to enjoy the ride and scenery and less time wondering where I am. One of the best bits of kit I've bought.

Tend to take it off and put it away if doing a hard descent. Terrifying of having an off and breaking it.

No idea about heart rate monitoring.

oh and TOPO great britain is the older less detailed mapping used on the 605/705 I believe. The mapping I have is GB Discoverer.

Also worth comparing with the latest garmin (800?).

Dakota 20 here too. Don't think the Dakota 10 has an SD slot, so that might be limiting for maps.

The Dakota 20 does have a HRM function [& a cadence sensor] whereas the 10 doesn't

The 20 also has a compass & altimeter over the 10
Also, as above - the 10 doesn't have a Micro SD slot either which somewhat hobbles it as a navigation tool IMO
