Lots of nature trails in the Troodos mountains, supposedly only for walking but IME never had any problems riding them when I was based out there. Try down on the Akamas Peninsula down past Paphos as well, some nice, lower level, less uppy-downy riding.

Very close mate of mine is about to be based there for the next 3 years. Hope there is some good riding as I'm planning a holiday or two to join him 🙂

i hope so too. will be dissapointed if there is not any good riding. heard it is very rocky and loose surface everywhere up in the hills.

trying to get to the assension island too. Try and ride up green mountain (mega steep and harsh switch backs) that even cars struggle with. then ride down all the way to georgetown on the coast.

Was in Dhekelia for a couple of years about 6-7 years ago. Aki is pan flat - road/TT territory - but if you dabble in the darkside there's some very good road riding heading for the hills to, quite a few teams train out there, starngely enough the Russian team used to regularly train on the roads around Dhekelia, Aki, Epi and Troodos... 😉

Don't know if it's still running or not but there's the Mountain to Sea race annually that starts at Troodos Station and finishes on the beach in Pissouri - good fun, nearly 70km of downhill and 2000m of descent with the odd bit of uphil thrown in for a laugh. There's also an XC race scene, or used to be anyway, not sure now though.

Riding in Troodos is largely very up and very down though, as the hills are steep rather than rolling, or relatively flat if you follow the nature trails and contour around the hilltops.

I used to have an MTB guide to the island as well but off loaded it to somebody else a while ago...

Now it's part of the € it seems pretty expensive.

Was there last year for the 1st since it changed over, & anything other than local stuff in the supermarket seems expensive IMHO..

I spent 3 years at akrotiri and can say there is some riding that way, lots of trails on the camp around the cliffs.

up the troodos there is a trail that goes all the way around mt olympus, cant remember the exact name of it but you end up in troodos square. when you get to the square head towards the military camp up there and follow the trail around the back of it, it is a very good, techy singletrack run dow the mountains for about 30 mins. it spits you out by the fish farms halfway up troodos so it would be a good idea to have a car parked there to ferry you back to the top !!

mountain to sea is good, its 55km and mostly down but there is one uphill bit that made me sick two years in a row!! came fourth with my team in 2006 !!

Think that's the Aphrodite Trail. There a few others as well - you can pick up leaflets from the Olympus(?) Hotel in Troodos village.
