It has Ksyrium wheels; any thoughts on them?

I keep looking for off road alternatives on my rides; but f$&k me riding on the roads a piece of....

the wheels will be fine, you might find 42c tyres will be a tight fit in the frame

Just put some 35mm Small Block 8's on my cross bike for 'summer'.

I think they'll be a good compromise for on/off road riding as long as I avoid the sticky/sloppy bits of mud.

CRC reviews seem to highlight puncture issues with the small block 8, although for me also it looks like an ideal tyre.

Any comments on that?

I have had a nightmare this winter with punctures with Maxxis beavers, really horrifically puncture attrating (thorns) with a very thin and feeble casing, so I am a little worried.

at least one of those CRC reviews is for the MTB 26" version, it could be that some of the others are too?

I've not done any off road miles on mine yet so can't comment but I run sealant filled tubes and have found them very good with thorn punctures with my previous tyres.

i think the clearance on the frame will be fine, on the trek its like a gate! has a carbon fork that looks like the same.

i just need a bit more bounce; did a ride the other night; 15 mph average, 31 max on a flattish route on an old railway track.
