Thinking about a new road bike to replace the Kaffenback . Was going fairly conventional but now wondering about future proofing myself with a light disc compatible frame to go along side my Cotic X.
Like the x but would now buy something more monstercross.

Certainly not light but i love my Fargo and it'll run pretty much any tyre you want. I have 2.35" Big Apples on mine and it just eats up the potholes and country lanes. Switch the tyres and it's pretty capable off road as well.

My most used bike at the moment. In winter it's my road bike, in summer it's a bridleway/light trail bike. Minimal maintenance with the Alfine hub and BB7 brakes. Not what you would call light though. Makes me very happy to get back on my road bike. Edit, or indeed my mountain bike.

If you're going to race cross you'll want something lighter than a Peregrine.

I love mine, but it's too heavy to carry far.

No but I have had two focus bikes (one road and one cross) and really rated them. Still got the roadie but upgraded the cross and ended up with the kinesis pro 6 cause it was on offer.

Focus are always on my list now though when looking at new bikes

Arkose 3, £999. 105 and a full carbon fork.
The £899 Tiagra / BB5 version got a Cycling Plus test win from Steve Worland this month.

Rosebikes have some nicely speced good value bikes. 105/bb7/carbon fork/ slk finishing kit. All for a little over a grand. Might be on my list.

Those salsa's look lovely! Great alright bike. Those light-bicycle frames are undecalled Fuji cx frames, have been tempted but don't need (afford) anymore bikes 🙁

We just got an email at work last week that we are now on CycleScheme.
Now I'm reading threads about disc braked CX bikes, with a list of available bikes and pictures.

This can only end one way...

N+1

Ken - I think you need to go down the custom route old boy :O)
I've got a friend who's 6'7'' and had Enginma knock him up a Ti road bike and they made it look normal. It's got the longest headtube in the world but the bike looks "right."

It's a shame that so many seem to be going as complete bikes only rather than being available as frame and fork.

MTG - I reckon you'll love a cross bike - will suit you down to the ground.

LOL didn't stop you selling me the Roadrat 😯

The Major Jake is a 60cm frame and the Voodoo is a 20" MTB frame

I think I'll get a measure up at my LBS to see what size I really need

The Specialized Crux disc is available in the UK, had one for a few months and I currently ride it more than my road bike or mtb
