I fancy treating myself to a nice waterproof jacket - mainly for riding bikes up mountains in foul weather, but also for a bit of general off bike use. Comfortable, waterproof, breathable, good build quality and it has to look cool, because I'm a tart.

Any recommendations/ ones to avoid/ ideas of how much I should be spending to get a quality article would be helpful.

Thanks.

I have the Endura MT-500 burner jacket; got mixed feelings about it, the first one disintegrated in 3 months and got eventually replaced under warranty. It looks quite good, but it's not practical for off the bike use (no decent pockets, rather short). On balance I think it unlikely I'd be getting it again.

I have recently started using a Buffalo instead of a waterproof (the Teclite this time of the year), and consider it far better piece of kit for riding bike up mountains in foul weather than a waterproof -- it copes much better with variation in exercise levels and really keeps you cozy even when completely sodden. But it's about as uncool as you can get. ๐Ÿ™‚
