Vigilante - noun - a member of a self-appointed group of citizens who undertake law enforcement in their community without legal authority

He's not a vigilante ๐Ÿ˜‰

Exactly, he is reporting crimes to the authorities, not dishing out street justice kung fu style. The storytelling is already anti cyclist.

+1 for deliberately characterising cyclists as 'bad' and 'morally unacceptable'.

Same deliberate use of negative language as 'lycra louts'

British attitudes to the recent increase in cycling have opened my eyes right up to:
a) how badly some people cope with change
b) how downright manipulative people can be when they want to persecute a minority they feel threatened by...

Just got the bolt croppers out, heard of a garage with FOUR bikes in. KA-CHING!

I don't see that what he is doing is bad - he observes people breaking the law and dobs them in. Her opposition of "cyclists are bad and should abide by rules" is a seperate issue/debate. In addition, I might add that she came off as a worked up bellend, and he said "at the end of the day" far too many times.

I won't be watching it. Although it looks to be one of those "debate" style programmes, it'll just wind up polarising the whole thing.

If there's one subject that doesn't need polarising, it's the safety of cyclists on the roads. I'd far rather we came at it with the attitude that cyclists are vulnerable road users and should therefore be afforded consideration by default.

Instead, I guess we're going to have some gobby Katie Hopkins wannabe behaving like a colossal tool just to indulge the habitually entitled "you don't pay road tax) brigade.

I found the cyclist/Bus driver quite measured and reasonable, not the most eloquent, but he made his point and didn't rise to the bait...

The whole thing was framed to stir the shit, get him riled and shouty but it failed, made the editorial choices stand out...
Thank **** I don't watch that sort of crap normally, I'd have been shouting at the telly...

Complete lack of understanding as to what a "Vigilante" actually is from people who apparently just don't want their right to get away with being a shit driver infringed...

this +1

Having realised there's no traffic Police around anymore, people now enjoy driving however they like, until along comes a cyclist with a camera and does what the Police would have done if they'd been there themselves.

Result, sulky motorist who realises they can't get away with bad behaviour any more.

I wonder if ITV also included this in their bulletin this morning?
