To go onto a bike with mechanical discs currently. Giant contact? Must be mechanical to hydro - for a customer.

TRPs are the obvious choice, Hope would be the more spendy (and neater) option

Just bite the bullet and buy hydro sti’s and brakes. I don’t care if u have to break the budget it is so so much better. Tiagra or grx 400/600 can’t be that much surely. Depends what speed existing setup is

GRX are nicer than Tiagra/105 - less lever throw and hopefully fixed the frequent warranty problem with older hydros not working but you'll pay the ridiculous price of £300+ for a pair.

Herself has the Accor cable/ hydro brakes. Can't remember what the model is but they're sold under several different brand names. Have been very reliable and much less needy in terms of constant adjustment than the Hy/Dr she had previously.

I have the Juin tech version of aP’s wife’s brakes on my hack cx bike, better than cable, reliable, no issues - haven’t even bled them after two and a half years.
What about the giant conductt cable / hydro ones?

I just replaced a front TRP Spyre with a TRP HY/RD and so far I'm really impressed. Using the same compressionless cable set-up, I'd say it's around 50% better, which I wasn't really expecting. Allows meaningful braking from the hoods, decent feedback, lots of power.

No idea what the long-term performance is like, but so far, so good and much better than the Spyre it replaced.

https://www.merlincycles.com/shimano-rs505-hydraulic-disc-brake-set-stis-rs505-flat-mount-calipers-11-speed-89846.html are just £175 for a pair of fully hydraulic brakes. Obviously no good for SRAM or non 11-speed road bikes (unless you have a single sprocket).

just installed Juin tech about 2 months ago on road bike. less wooden than TRP, nicer feel.and much stronger than avid BB7. maybe not as good as hydrolics but the best cable brakes I've tried.
