Single ring, 42/12-27, used all sesson for training and CX racing.

Considering putting a 50 ring on for road riding this summer

Nearly the same here 36/46 13-25, it's classic and it's right.

I had a compact road chainset and bought a new big ring so run 34/46 with an 11-25 casette.

Racing I never use the 46 but it is good for general easy off road riding (old railways etc.).

34 is probably a bit small for racing and 46 is definately too big for me. If I could be bothered and didn't use it as a winter road bike I'd go 36:44 or single ring 36.

I am definately a high cadence rider though, always have used lower gears than most but spin fast. I find it suits me better. I'm a (very) strong climber and not much of a sprinter though. I also find lower gears help me stay seated and keep traction on muddy climbs?

34/46 12-27 My bike came with a compact 34/50 chainset and I couldn't be arsed to buy a new inner ring.

38/44 and 12-27 for racing on.
I find it useful to start on 44/24 and be able to shift up quickly away from the line without having to try and change chainrings under full power.

36/46 12-26 works for me, although I sometimes think a 48 would be better if I go on a long road ride.

34/50 with 11-28 9 speed - pretty spot on for my riding which is a mix of on/off road but I don't race it.

36/46 and 11-26, or 34/46 and a 32 for 'special needs' ๐Ÿ™‚

24-36-48 and 13-26 8s cassette, more of a road/trail beast than for prancing round a muddy field for an hour.

Compact chainset also, and swapped the 50 ring for a 46, so 34/46 up front and a 11-28 cassette.

34/50 and 12/29 - that's what it came with. Use it for racing. thinking about changing to 36/46 for next season.
