what is light/average ?

I reckon my Jake the Snake is about 23/24 pounds, which I think is towards the heavy end ? not weighed road bike, but it feels more like 20/21 ?

20/21 is 'heavy' in road bike terms, imo, but 2-3lbs difference for stronger frame &fork/heavier brakes and tyres is probably ok.

21 lb on a road bike is a lot, you'd be looking at sora groupsets and ~£500 new with that kind of weight.

okaydokay, willl get the bathroom scales out later and see - I must be over-reckoning by at least a few pounds.....not that it really matters right enough 🙂

My mid-range 2010 Allez (carbon fork, Tiagra) with PowerTap (works out same weight as stock wheel) is 22lbs exactly.

Mid-range Allez, as in of the 3 in the range it is the middle one, ie not the £500 model.

It's an entry level road bike. I hate it.

Road bike = 16.2lbs with tool bag (nothing particularly fancy and light & 7 years old)
CX bike = 17.5lbs (with 34mm tubs)
