Fancy a blast around the hills. Where I am in snowy Gloucestershire the roads are clear. Does anyone know if the forest drive up to Cwmcarn is clear?

Can't help with your question sorry, but a cheeky thread hijack with one of my own. Dunno where in Gloucestershire you are, but any idea what the Forest of Dean is like?

Hope you get to Cwmcarn!

No idea about FoD either, although I would’ve thought the roads are open. I might risk it for Cwmcarn anyway. It’s all about the adventure.

The access road is not long, park in the village and ride up. It can't be more than 2km at most.

Yeah It'll be fine. I work further up that valley and we were in today. I ended up taking a half day and having a blast in the woods.

Rode Cwmcarn this morning, or tried too...

Access is easy, Forest Drive is closed but there’s a diversion around the houses. Park in the usual place.

Still lots of snow on the trail, it’s fine but the compacted stuff was just hard ice, not a time for highrollers!

Ran out of time due to some tech issues with my bike. It’s been warmer and sunny today, could be better, could be worse.

What time were you there? I set off around 11am, when most the loop was still in shade/shelter from the wind. Other than a few pockets of sun, it was only the last 1/4 or so as you come round one of the last exposed the hillsides (castle valley?) where it was sunny and a bit slushy. Still powder dry in the shade and amongst the plantation.
