How does the XC trail at Cwmcarn stand up to the wet? Not been before so don't know what the trail is made from or how it drains. I know FOD tends to get pretty minging so looking for an alternative this weekend.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also what's Afan like at this time of year? Cheers

Cwm is pretty stable - tends to hold up well. It has been raining A LOT mind..................

It holds up well. The only bit that holds water is the bit through the trees before the final decent.

I've ridden it in torrential rain no problems

Was there yesterday, was all pretty solid apart from the XC alternative to the freeride section, but that wasn't what you'd call muddy, more wash down from the rain.Pack a towel and dry socks though, there's lots of puddles ๐Ÿ™‚

I was at Afan yesterday and although it wasn't raining the ground conditions were the wettest I've ever know it there. Some sections also had mud (fairly thin not gloop) which is unusual for Afan which is just usual gritty water on rock. Maybe it's a consequence of all the tree felling they've had to do?
The new sections on the wall and the bike park are fun if you like that
