Numpty question but is it possible/safe to trim down carbon fiber bars? In particular, an Easton CNT monkeylite bar.

If it is, I assume you can't just take a hack saw to it?

Not something I'd be happy doing TBH. Although I understand there are propriety CF saws about, so it's certainly possible to do it.

It's very easy to do, it just needs care

For starters, don’t use a pipe cutter, use a nice new hacksaw blade with the highest tooth count you can find.

Measure twice, cut once.

Wrap the area you want to cut with a couple of wraps of masking tape, if you have a cutting guide, use one, if not, hope your eye is good.

Cut halfway through then start cutting from other side to avoid fraying the carbon.

Tidy up the ends with a fine file.

Do not breath in the carbon dust.

Yep, as above (in particular the more teeth on the saw the better!). It's a bit of a pain in the arse (I've done it twice) but it's worth being careful and doing it properly. Only extra thing I did was to put a little clue on the newly exposed carbon to help seal it. It is a LOT more hassle than doing alu bars though, so allow plenty of time - it's quite easy to fray the carbon if you rush!
