Placed a small order with ________ on 1st Feb, money taken and order email received.
Still no order or any other communication received by today so rang them up and was told the product wasn't in stock and they have had to order it in and it should be with me some time next week!!!
WTF.... So you take my money and don't send me an item...? Your website says the product is still in stock....
Surely this sort of thing is not right?
Only placed one order before with this company and that was messed up too, thought I'd give them another go...
happens more than you may imagine. I ordered a frame a couple of years back, shown 4 in stock in the required size. there was a particular note on the website about delivery time on bikes because they needed to be prepped. fair enough, but i'm getting a frame, so figured that didn't apply to me, unless he was going to face BB, disc mounts etc....
anyway, a week went by, no dispatch confirmation. checked the site, still showing stock, so i dropped him a mail. got quite a huffy response along the lines of 'i've got loads to do and it says on the site that these things take time'. err, ok, so the price is good, so i wait. frame turns up after another week, no preparation work done to it at all ( i'm not that bothered about that aspect ), however the carton the frame came in still had the shipping sticker on it from the distributor, dated 3 days before the frame got to me.
now, i saved myself 20 or 30 quid, but i don't really understand why the guy got his ar5e in his hand. he could have just lied, and said there'd been a stock count cock up, or he could have just made it plain that his prices were keen because he didn't keep stock. i wouldn't really have minded that much. lying about it just made me think he's a bit of a dick. ๐
Happens a lot- happens a lot more if you're shopping with Mark Anthony Bikes though. Sometimes, it's a genuine error which is fair enough, sometimes it's companies pretending to hold stock they don't.
As above, Could be easily genuine or selling products they don't stock (not an issue if they are honest)
Unless your a 1 man band its near impossible to keep a 100% stock record, 100% of the time.
I would have expected an email fairly quickly though to say what's happening.
Nearly always companies advertising items as "stock" when they don't have such items and intend on ordering in when orders get placed. This supremely pisses me off !
This means you place the order instead of going to a competitor who may genuinely have item in stock. Wouldn't be so bad if they were honest but this kind of thing only catches me out once. Mental note to not bother with said retailer again.
I ordered some tyres online and after two weeks gave the shop a call to see what the hold-up was.
"Oh, we thought you wanted to collect them"
"I'm in Scotland, you're in Wales. Put them in the post please!"
Since when do web orders get collected??
Since when do web orders get collected??
Well the first click and collect service that I know of in the UK was launched in 2001.
click and collect is something I associate with argos or ikea
