Hi. Thought I'd give my SLX cup and cones a look/clean/service. Have a set of cone spanners going from 13 to 16mm. Too small. Quick measure with verniers gives me 3 measurements on the flats from both sides as 18, 22 and 23 mm's. So, basically, wtf?

Had a look online thinking I could buy a set of cone spanners with these sizes. But couldn't find. Am I missing something? Should be a simple common tool, surely.

Multi size cone spanners generally aimed at low quality hubs with common 13/14/15/17mm cones . I don't find themto great quality , have had them splay on me while locking cones previously. I like Pedro's cone spanners -they seems to be made of the thickest material while still fitting in the majority of cone slots

Whilst buying the cone spanners, if you haven't already got one, you may want to consider an Axle vice too, as this makes it far easier to lock the nuts accurately...

Take an angle grinder to your existing cone spanners .
