Helping a friend decide between the GTC Race 29 and the GTC SL 29

Main differences seem to be...
Forks: Rock Shox Reba RL 29 vs Fox 32 Float CTD
Brakes: Magura MT2 vs Formula RC Tune
Wheels: Sun Ringlé Radium vs DT CSW MA 1.0 straightpull
Drivetrain: SLX (mostly) vs XT

Is the SL an extra £200 well spent? I'm familiar enough with SLX & XT but not so much with the specific brakes, wheels & forks...all much of a muchness, or any lemons to avoid?

The SL is about a pound lighter and I'm guessing most of that is in the wheels & tyres, but £200 would go nicely towards some Hope Hoops.

Of course, he'll just choose on colour anyhow and rightly so...but thanks in advance for your efforts!

Flip yes, go for the more expensive one, that's a lovely colour!
OK, on a more serious note, if that's only £200 difference then you're getting a nice overall kit upgrade with the lovely colour 🙂

sl, the fox fork wins it, although that colour scheme is pretty nasty

you'll need a better saddle too, the saddles are heavy and hard and cheap

The cheaper one looks nicer, but for £200 he'd be daft not to get the gopping one
