I’m a dick!!!
I’ve managed to cross thread a bottle cage bolt in the rivnut on the down tube and now the whole thing is lose and just turns.
I’ve seen the YouTube videos where you grind away the flange on the rivnut but I’m not sure I trust myself given the above!!
Anyone got any real world advice or even better does anyone know anyone that might take this job on in the Chester/Wirral/North Wales area?

Can you hold the bit of the rivnut that protrude from the frame? Molgrips?

I did this the other week. Mine had two bolts. One was ok which I removed. Then I used the cage to pull and turn...it worked...I just kept pulling up and turning the cage
I've successfully deployed a similar technique to this in the past:

I have superglued the sleeve thingy, which has given me enough purchase to get the bolt out and its been fine going back in since.

Agree ... dribble some superglue into the outside of the riv nut. Once you've got the original bolt out - use the long bolt / nut / washer method to compress the riv nut properly.

I’m planning to chase out the rivnut with an M5 tap before trying the long bolt/nut/washer tip.
