Anyone else enjoy road and MTB ? Winter is approaching and it's time to invest in some good kit for both disciplines. I always find myself asking should I spend a lot on an item that will work for road and MTB or should I get discipline specific clobber. I think base layers socks kegs jerseys Bali carvers winter boots are all fine for cross dressing.helmets and tights/shorts need to be specific IMO buy one good expensive item if possible rather than many cheap ones. Off to do some shipping !

I know it's against "the rules" but I run Time Atac pedals on my MTBs and my Roadie. So I can use any of my shoes on any bike, though in reality I have a pair of shoes for road use and a pair for off road.

If your going bicicual, make sure your wearing baggies on the road bike, there's excuses for that, there's NO excuses for wearing LYCRA Full Stop* ! Let alone on a bike !

There are exceptions to this rule, * Lizzy AKA Green Goddess * M.C. Hammer

You could just play it safe and buy a pair of Ron Hills & Kagool but this look only works if your 45 and live with your Mum and have a comb over.

That's just plain daft.

Must say the only thing I wear on both is shorts/socks/helmet/base. Different jackets, tights and shoes.

altura varium jacket is good, waterproof soft shell type, close fitting so won't flap on the road (so if you're a fatty get a bigger size) and looks mtb enough to ride with other trail centre heros without being beaten to death with a droper post for being too roadie
