Ok, think I am going wrong somewhere.

Fitted a new XT HTII BB and while standing on the pedals it creaks like a good 'un. Now this is no way proportional to the meagre power of my pistons. No no no.

Suspect that something is over tightened/under tightened or insufficiently greased.

I'm pretty sure I've got the spacers (68mm) right.

Any ideas on the most likely cause?

Got the same thing after installing a used one last week. Didn't apply as much copper slip on the BB threads as I usually do or normal grease on the axle, nor tighten it up as hard.

grease the rear axle and around the mech hanger and tighten up good and proper. if that doesn't work take out the BB and regrease it. if that doesn't work, new pedals?

a very late thank you chaps, cleaned up the rear axle (loads of dry dusty ground in muck) and not much much better. Cheers ๐Ÿ™‚

Making note of this as I've got a creak somewhere on the Tallboy LT that I've just built up.

Plenty of grease on the BB threads and the axle and the splines.

An update to my squeak - was the mech hanger as suggested above.
