I have a 2010 spesh stumpy. And when im on the flat or gentle uphill when i put power down i get a creaking noise, Without stripping anything down i have checked the bike over as best i can and found nothing wrong.
Before i go to town on it is this a common occurance or should i be concerned.

Seat post in tube? Not an uncommon reason as far as I'm aware.

Do up all your QRs - really tight
Had a creak on my Trance which I couldn't trace, my LBS just did up the QRs, problem solved.

have you checked the bottom bracket, is the creak fairly constant as to when though the pedal stroke?

Suspension pivots. As you pedal a little bit of "bob" can cause a creake.

See if it creaks when you lock out the suspension. If not, it's the pivots.
