[#2595784]

Anyone else had a creaking DW 5spot, mine sounds like a bag of spanners.

Its an 2010 model so got the upgraded bushes etc, I've greased the Zerks but not sure if enough is going in. I'm using my old Pace grease gun with the recommended "super-lube", they certainly aren't purging grease out the sides.

Recently the bike has been really noisy, anyone got ideas or tips to help?
Its driving me nuts.

G

no creeks here, (well not from the frame, bb doesn't sound well)

when i grease through the zerks, grease is purged out the sides. maybe try a different grease gun? i'm still using prep m.

Mine has started creaking, chaaged the post and saddle and replaced the BB, but still doing it.

Mines an 09.

I'm going to mail Turner and see what can be done about it.

Mine was. Got in touch with Greg at Turner and they sent me the updated DW linkages free. They'll sort you out as always.

Thought you weren't suppose to purge the grease ๐Ÿ˜•

My Flux DW '09 creaks...not certain if it's the same solution but I've heard it requires the upgrade of main pivot bolt

Do you mail greg direct or go through the Turner contact page?

There are plenty of threads on how to cure creaks on MTBR Turner forums, if you haven't got the upgraded hardware, Turner will send you it free if you mail Greg Wulf.

Edit: My typing is obviously too slow!

You can save youself the hassle by drilling a small hole in each of the aluminium axles yourself to allow the grease to pass into the central bore. Thats all Turner did to the modded ones.

whoops ๐Ÿ˜ณ yes you are correct!

from turner

Lube Zerk Fittings -
Your frame has five (5) Zerk fitting locations which should be lubed every 3-6 months in normal-dry conditions and every 10-20 hours in wet conditions.
tip::. Refer to the diagram below for all of the Zerk Fitting locations on your Turner.

When Lubing use a bent tip needle grease gun and inject just enough grease to pressurize the system.
DO NOT Purge The System, EVER.

My old ones had the hole drilled in and the grooves going around the linkages were thicker. New DW links I got sent end of last year have no hole drilled and much thinner grooves. Just to add some confusion!

Thanks for the replies, its a 2010 frame so I'm assuming the hardware is up to date.

I guess I'll strip it down / re-grease at the weekend and see if that helps.
Might try the hole mod if all else fails.

Coogan - has yours been ok since fitting the new hardware?

Mine is a 2010 frame with the new linkage now on the bike. Problem is, I have no idea if any better as a rather large accident very end of last year means I've not tried it yet. Seriously get in touch with Turner, they'll be more that happy to help you out. Always been great when I've emailed about stuff over the years.

Had the same problem with my 09flux first thing i did after talking to greg was to remove black plate or what ever colour you have that covers the bushing gubbins now clean the inside of plate and where it touches the frame, smear it with grease where the plate and frame bits touch then reassemble did that and it sorted my creak after i had changed everthing on my bike

Try the mech hanger - I went through all this on my 09 DW Flux. Take off the mech hanger & grease the interface with the rear dropout.

email greg@turner.com

He will send you new hex links for free. They changed the tolerance which sorted the creak.

My 09 has never creaked in the 2 years I've had it. I do have the new links but not changing unless I really have to.

One other thing to check is the brake post inserts. They can creak so just smother them in some anti-seize.
