[#10492225]

I've been trying to trace a creak on my bike for ages.
New pivot bearings, BB, greased everything.
Tried an old wheel with a different cassette, no creak.
Got the back wheel retensioned, still creaking.
Yesterday riding with a mate who's bike was making the same noise with a Sunrise cassette, but his was 11sp & mine is 10. My old one was fine, the new one is an improved version with a thicker big cog.
Anyone else had a creaky Sunrace cassette?

Never had issues with 11-36 cassettes. Sunrace was fine as well.

Issues started with the wider range stuff, like 11-42 or higher. The mass of those is quite high and have to re-tighten them from time to time. Shimano / Sunrace: same.

Greased everything & nipped up tight. I think it might be the rivets.

Probably cassette. I replaced my Sram NX cassette like for like and the new one makes a bit of noise in 1 particular cog and won't change down properly out of that one either. Seems like the rivets are a bit loose.

Take the cassette off, as GT85 the rivets. If the noise goes anyway, then it's the rivets. Sorted.

If it doesn't go away, set the bike on fire.
Also sorted.

Mine doesn't creak, but I had a weird issue.

I fitted it and it was fine, then a couple of hundred KM in there was a clunking noise when I was descending, traced it to the cassette. The lock ring was tight, but for some reason there was a tiny bit of slack which I took up with a couple of thin cassette spacers - been fine since.
