[#1944316]

I have some carbon handle bars, and they seem to have started to creak when under heavy load (i.e. me), So climbing hills will cuase them to creak etc.

Should i replace them or is this natural?

RUN!

Have you checked the stem?

I've got a similar problem and am working right through the bike. Is it a carbon frame too as the sounds often come from one place and sound like another!
Try removing the bar from the stem, clean the lot, check all the bolts and stem faceplate alignment then reassemble to the correct torque setting with carbon paste.
Do the same for the steerer bolts.
If there are any compression cracks/seams/marks/delamination on the bar around the stem clamp area, either get it checked at a reputable LBS or bin the bar and get a new one. Stress riser(s) could otherwise be there and you wouldn't know until the bar goes pop.

I had a simialr problem with Easton EC70s. If you look on the Easton website thye recoomed against using anyone elses stem (of course they will!) they say you can get creaking from stems that have square edges, especially four bolt clamps, they say it creates stress rasiers. I use a Hope stem and tighten to about 4nm with Carbon prep and all creakings now gone

Also, do you have carbon headset spacers? I tracked my phantom creak to the spacers I was using, switched to alloy and creak vanished.
