Hi all,

I have a creaking seatpost and I've tried most things to solve it.
It is a Thomson layback 27.2mm post in a titanium frame. I have a hope clamp which I have tightened and slackened to solve the creak, but when I think I have solved the creak, it comes back after a ride. I have greased, copper greased cleaned, done everything!!!! Does anyone have any bright ideas or do I change the seatpost, clamp or something?

You sure it is not the saddle clamp bolts?

Stand up on the pedals.

Jeez, could be anything, I had one like that once that turned out to be the stem/steerer interface, although it sounded for all the world like the seatpost. Vibration must have travelled down the top tube and used the seatpost to creak at me, took days for me to figure it out, popped a tiny smear of grease between the stem and the steerer, problem solved.

Clean the inside of the seat-tube thoroughly, then regrease.

Had this issue the other day when I lowered, then re-raised my Thomson in my bike on Saturday. Stopped, gave it a clean, put it back in, and the creaking stopped!

I've got the same problem, I reckon it's temperature related. Undoing and doing up the clamp again gets rid of the creak until the sun comes/goes.
