Not especially impressed with the customer service from CRC on this

I've had one, maybe two, issues with CRC and needed to use their customer service. They took a day or two to get back to me, but they sorted out the problem. Keep in mind that they sell a huge volume of stuff and their customer service people will have a literally endless stream of inquiries. I was actually quite impressed with how well they dealt with it all.

I’ve got a spare cinch spider if you want the choice of 104bcd rings.

can return the Wolftooth 36t to Winstanleys for refund (feels a bit like jerking them about because CRC moved the goalposts, but I’m sure they’ll survive). I can buy any one of a number of options for a 36t Cinch

yeah, I bet even Winno's sell them, if that'd make you feel better

They do:
https://winstanleysbikes.co.uk/race-face-direct-mount-narrow-wide-alloy-chainring

The only other thing is your going to need a tools for the Cinch: the chainring is installed with an older style BB tool I think, and the Easton axle is 30mm rather than the GRX 24mm so it'll have a different bb

I know it's already been mentioned, and the Op has been there and done it now, but my (excellent) experience with CRC has been by always using live chat on the website for any queries, as opposed to email - they have been excellent when I've needed to get in touch.....and always reasonable with their "solutions" if there's a problem.....

@rocketdog what I’ve learnt is that wolf tooth do a 36T 110 bcd 4 arm chain ring

Interesting, however £75! I bought a specialities TA ring, admittedly 38t for less than £40 though so I'll stick with that

The Digger is a great bike (and even better with 25% off). Don’t let a trivial (and it is trivial) spec change ruin the enjoyment of it. I am sure you will really enjoy the bike. I love mine and ride it so much more than I thought I would.

So I did type a moderately lengthy response/update on this, but although initially I could see it in this thread, now I can't. Seems to be some forum weirdness going on in the matrix.

Bottom line is CRC responded this morning (Monday) and apologised for the spec change and said it fell below their expected quality. They then went on to slightly contradict that by explaining that the website lists that either GRX or Easton could be supplied, global supply chain issues blah blah, and in light of that couldn't offer a swopout but I could return the bike at their expense.

I responded that although the website says that now, it didn't when I ordered and was changed to include the 'could be GRX or Easton' in the spec list only after I complained a week ago.

They have offered a gift voucher which will almost cover the cost of a chainring. So I've not got the GRX cranks I ordered and wanted, but I do think honour has been satisfied and a bit of compromise both sides.

Nice bike; got it very muddy in the Lakes at the weekend seeing how many mountain bike type trails I know could be ridden on it. Answer - most of them but MUCH more exciting at times!

So you used the bike anyway and they gave you a free chainring/£'s to cover? Sounds like you did OK specially as you have a boik.

Good result. Those cranks with the right size chainring is a win.

Hiya @daverhp,

I have a Digger Comp and have done 2K kms on it, since last November. You did the right thing keeping it, it is a awesome bike. I've hacked mine changing the stem, handlebars and seat post, and I run Crank Brothers Egg beaters on it.
It's an awesome bike so easy to ride fast on gravel and road. Make sure you go tubeless as soon as you get it the bike's wheels are pre-taped and all you need is the sealant as the bike comes with the valves for Tubeless. It has to be the most faultless bike I've ever owned and well assembled which is more than I could say about my Cotic, when it arrived. Don't mention my sons Ribble mind which was a pain in the back side and had to be returned twice to fix and wasn't half the spec of the Digger.

Happy Rides await!!!

JeZ
