Has anyone actually had anything delivered in 24hrs from CRC?
Three times I've paid for the additional service, and three times the items get to my local Hermes / Evri depo and just sit there for days.....
Ordered some bits Saturday for Sunday delivery, with an aim to go for a ride yesterday, it's now mid way through Monday morning and the package is still sat at the depo😡
Rant over....
Remember when they were freepost and everything was RM 1st class. They even had a double page advert in the magazines of someone looking at the forecast for the next day and ordering a waterproof.
I'm sure the venture capitalists that bought them are making a few more quid though.
BITD when they were 'just' a bike shop you'd normally get everything the next day, wrapped in whatever packaging they could lay their hands on. These days they are at the mercy of their chosen courier and they chose Evri. For any chance of next day I'd look for someone who uses a better courier - assume you've let them know (I'd try customer service before emailing the CEO) because if we don't complain they'll just keep using Evri rather than finding a better courier.
I just ordered a new helmet with regular delivery 5 days in advance of a week away. I had to take my old helmet away with me while the new one was delivered the day after we left.
It's Britain in 2022 isn't it. Just expect everything to be crap and you won't be too disappointed.
I have used their next day service twice recently and the bits I ordered were delivered next day as promised both times.
Nope, it's literally a scam.
If you pick the regular delivery, sometimes your stuff arrives within 24 hours, sometimes it doesn't.
CRC have nothing to lose by offering 24 hour delivery as an option. If your stuff arrives within 24 hours they keep the extra money you paid. If it doesn't then they refund you. Doesn't matter, it didn't cost them anything anyway. It's called a rainmaker scam.
My evidence for this is that this thread will soon be full of replies from people saying, 'My stuff didn't arrive within 24 hours after I paid for 24 hour delivery' and other people saying, 'I used the regular delivery and it arrived within 24 hours.'

I'm not sure if this is also part of it. On Friday you realise you need something for the weekend ride. You could go to the LBS but you figure if CRC have 24 hour delivery you might as well order from them.
They offer it is so that they can take business away from LBSs. Obviously this was more relevant when the LBSs actually had parts in stock...
It's the couriers that are the issue. Same happens with the company my wife works for, stuff just vanishes for days at the depots. Our local driver is really good, but it's getting the deliveries to her pick up depot that's the issue. Even stuff we've paid £10 for delivery, goes missing (resulting in another item being posted - we've lost a number of goods this way from Mrs Employers)
I have recently written to their customer services and told them that so long as they continue to use Evri then they will no longer have my custom. I suggest anyone who has had similar issues to the OP also do the same. If we just keep on buying and accepting it then they will keep using shite coureirs to save a couple of pence
i find the quickest delivery is to get it to a local shop collect+
evri doesnt seem to have the same level of service across the business, IMHO the leeds depot is decent and so is my local courier.
i'm pretty sure hermes/evri head office is morley/leeds so it'd make sense the local depot runs like clockwork
CRC and Wiggle are owned by the same people now, I don't know if they share the same stock but it seems pretty similar. Except, with Wiggle, you can pay a one-time fee of £9.99 and then get free next-day delivery for the rest of the year, which IME is pretty reliable. So I'd recommend using that, and not CRC!
But yeah, if you MUST have something, defo give your LBS a ring.
our local Evri person is really good too, no complaints here!evri doesnt seem to have the same level of service across the business, IMHO the leeds depot is decent and so is my local courier.
Definitely the courier at fault - I live on the edge of the depo's reach (depo in Swindon, I'm near Cheltenham).
I paid the £9.99 for 1yr unlimited next day delivery from Wiggle, and I think the only time it hasn't arrived as promised over 12 months was when I ordered something over the Jubilee double bank holiday weekend and it rocked up 2 days later. That's the only time in probably 30+ orders over 12 months though!
I never pay next day for CRC though, but it tends to arrive withing 24-48hrs regardless.
Is it the same delivery partner IE Evri with wiggle though?- I can get cash back from crc, which is why I use them over wiggle.
I've not used CRC for quite a while. I remember once ordering an SLX mech at 2pm on a Friday on their free delivery and it was in my hand at 11am the next day.
Our local Evri/Hermes service is very hit and miss. Last year I had a parcel which they "attempted" to deliver 6 times. They didn't, no card, no knock on the door, nothing. I did eventually get it about 2 weeks later. Other times stuff arrives on the scheduled date.
Update :- just had an email saying my items will be delivered between 6-9pm tonight. Here's my next issue, we are always at the end of the day with Evri, I'm guessing because we live quite far from the depo. So we are always at the end off the deliveries for the day.
If the driver has an issue or is delayed in anyway, our delivery automatically gets pushed back to the next day. The last '24hr' package took well over 4 days to be delivered, as it kept being pushed to the next day, or not being released from the depo.
if I need stuff at short notice and they have it, I generally order from Amazon now.
they may be in league with the devil, but that deal got their logistics nailed on.
As per @whatyadoinsucka I have had good experience with the 'deliver to local store' via collect plus / wiggle, it's free and seems to nearly always arrive next day. Not sure CRC offer this though, even though they are effectively one and the same!

Yes its Evri from Wiggle too. I get a loyalty discount thing at Wiggle, might be worth having a look to see if that would save you money to the same extent as the cashback.

They don't run the service over bank holidays, so didn't really miss their obligation that time either
Wiggle have been reliable for me too. Can order late at night and it's always arrived around lunchtime the next day, via Evri. Quicker than Amazon who normally deliver the next evening.
It works fine for me mainly there is times when it has not but they refund charge, I would not trust anyone of shop for a next day If expecting to ride that day there is too much that can go wrong.
The issue is all down to your local Evri site and your delivery person in my experience.
Plus, Evri will have KPI's to meet especially with regard to next day delivery, however, Evri have a lot of factors that they discount from their KPI. So if for example the vehicle breaks down, that is excluded from the KPI calculation. As a result it is very hard for the shop or supplier to punish Evri financially for their service failing to meet their expectations and yours
I've had the same negative experiences with Evri. Stopped using CRC and Wiggle due to their choice of courier.
CRC placed an order tuesday, latest evri update is it found the main hub friday afternoon, nothing since, i ordered fox defend pro glove £15 on wiggle thursday night, arrived 10 mins ago, regular Free on £20 spend.
in terms of stock systems/warehouse I'd assume they have merged the warehouse now as the stock system on both sites is counting down the same stock level, although one website maybe cheaper than the other and not stock what the other stocks.
ie 3x l/xl // 7x s/m in stock on wiggle

@mashr oh yes it wasn't a complaint, purely my fault for not realising it was a bank holiday!
Or rather I think there was a note at the top of the website saying there were no next-day deliveries that weekend but it still let me select the free next day delivery option at checkout so I was mildly hopeful it might still turn up.
Another evri tale. They actually sent me an email to say my seatpost would be delivered next day. Good think I, I can be in.
However incredibly they delivered the day before when I wasn't in, so they just left it on the doorstep in full view of the road and any passersby. Fortunately it wasn't nicked but no thanks to evri.
For me the service from Evri seems ok, they deliver pretty quickly after they have received the package. What I am noticing is that it seems to be taking a long time for CRC to even pass the package to the courier.
I've had this with Wiggle and each time I contact them to ask for an update. They then send another of the order and both then arrive the next working day...happened twice and it is annoying when it doesn't arrive, but Wiggle have been very good by sending the order again (and not wanting the other one returned).
I use Wiggle plus far more than I care to admit and I think I have only every had 1 item not arrive next day and that was because the lorry was stuck on the motorway for 12 hours after a fatality. They sent me an explanation and a £5 voucher to make up for it.
Never had an issue, but I as under the impression if you ordered on Saturday it would arrive on Monday
As others have said it's up to your local Evri courier. Some are shit, some are good.
Our current one is spot on, and CRC next day has been fine for me, so far.
Ive never had a problem. Like some have said our local Evri delivery man is excellent and stuff arrives in the expected time scale. Perhaps we are lucky where we live?
I’ve had this with Wiggle
+1
Stopped paying for next day as it never is.
Ordered some bits Saturday for Sunday delivery,
Really? I'd never have expected that to work.
Here’s my next issue, we are always at the end of the day with Evri, I’m guessing because we live quite far from the depo. So we are always at the end off the deliveries for the day.
We're the opposite, 1st call for Evri/Hermes - and get a really good service and TBH CRC stuff normally comes next day on just the standard service.
I’m not sure if this is also part of it. On Friday you realise you need something for the weekend ride. You could go to the LBS but you figure if CRC have 24 hour delivery you might as well order from them.
Nah, got back from a ride on Saturday to find a new hope BB had been delivered, but didn't have the correct tool the lbs was shut so ordered from CRC.
On the rare occasion I've paid the extra for next day delivery from CRC, the courier has managed to keep to their end of the deal, though in each case it seemed to take CRC several days longer than normal to pick the item, pop it in a box or bag and despatch.

does with amazon prime...
Mind you, the crapness of evri has worked for me. Some brakes I ordered were so late that I was given a refund. A week after getting the refund, the brakes arrived. They appeared to have been to N. Ireland, I live in Yorkshire......
CRC used to be immense. Just pop down to the warehouse in Doagh (the joys of living in NI), try all sizes and styles until it fits and drive home with whatever you wanted!
then wiggle bought them and they closed the warehouse and we were only left with the superstore in Belfast which never had anything you wanted in stock!
Delivery at this stage was 24-48hrs - acceptable 🙂
the past 18mths has been shocking! i've gave 24hr delivery a try twice and been left utterly disappointed both times. the order sits on processing for 3-4, sometimes 5 days! Evri themselves have been great, my local delivery man is brilliant. However the quickeest wat is pick the nearest pickup point......but still left with the massive disappointment of CRC not sending the item for 3-4 days, then a 3 day delivery to the pickup point 🙁
i did complain once about the 24hr delivery sitting on processing for 3-4 days and was promised a refund on delivery, but never got it
I use Wiggle+, always comes next day but I think there is a bug/crude method of dealing with BHs. If you order on a BH, it seems they just turn Wiggle+ off and it defaults to 3-5 days rather than just adding 1 day. But then generally it still gets despatched next working day on an overnight service.
CRC do seem to have gone downhill quite noticeably in the last wee while.
They used to be my go-to for all the wee bits and bobs I buy (which isn’t a lot, but it was always them) but now I’m finding Tredz to be much better, I hadn’t heard of them before. Wiggle were great recently though, next day worked fine.
CRC need to redesign their website. The latest colour scheme burns my eyes - have to click away from the main page and scroll down on subsequent pages to avoid needing the eye bleach :'(
