Was under the (wrong) impression that my 661 recon helmet had a crash replacement policy behind it. After cracking it at the weekend, I found that apparently the policy does not exist.

Anyone had a good experience of the policy in the past - if so, with which manufacturers?

giro and specialized do but its a discount off RRP.

with some of the discounts around then its sometimes cheaper just to buy a new lid.

Had a good experience with Giro. Got a replacement for less than half price on condition I sent them the damaged one with an honest description of how the damage happened back to them.

Ok, cheers. I think I remember now having a good experience with Giro years ago.

I'll also check out specialized as I like the look and price of their tactic helmet.

Yep they use it as research normally (hence the honest descriptions)

Specialized used to be lifetime with replacement at 25% of original cost, I used the service a couple of times, was absolutely painless (had a good LBS who were a specialized dealer nearby at the time which no doubt helped). Decided to retire that helmet a couple of years ago and bought a Giro Hex (really good fit for me and wasn't too keen on the specialized designs, have also moved and my local specialised dealer are nowhere near as good). Think Giro offer three years.
