new cranks didn't come today for my SS thats getting me to and from work.
I take the cranks off my MTB which has a knackered back wheels to use on the SS and fix the new one to the MTB
42 tooth ring doesn't fit on the back of the shimano crank so i can't use the bash guard, because i can't use the bash guard the bolts are too long.........and all i have around here to help on anyway is a sodding halfords that's never got any stock of anything

Got to B&Q or similar and buy some washers to space out the chainring bolts in the place of the bash ring. Simples.
Or if you're really desperate, you can cut chainring bolts/nuts down to fit.
