Okay laydees and gennlemen, this is your (bit less than)two-week warning.

Be ready to go at 10.30am. If you're late, or overly faffing, I'll give you directions to catch us up.

The route is still a bit of a moveable feast, depending on numbers and conditions. There may an element, just a hint, the merest soupcon even, of me winging it as we go...

Winging it? Surely not? Looking forward to this. I'm having my jabs next week, and the visa's been applied for. Can you pull any strings there IHN?

Don't worry about a visa, with the right disguise they'll let anyone in:

Just found out about this via Rocketdog, sounds ace and really want to attend. Can provide sugary treats due to wife's obsession with baking, just one question having never ridden the cotswolds is singlespeed gonna be wise or should I play safe and select the geared bike from the quiver?

how strong are you, single speed is possible, but imo not very sensible, the climbs aren't that bad, but a sensible uphill gear means your undergeared the rest of the time. Oh and mud. really depends on how bad it is, it can be very sticky. soul destroying sticky.

Yes please, thank you.
Is the car park easy to find? I'm following general A road signs so I doubt they'll have a "Library Car Park" one just for me and I don't have Sat. Nav. for the bike.

Monksie - don't know which way you'll be coming in, but assuming you'll be coming down the High Street, you need to go up North Street (Winchcombe museum is on the corner), then 500yds or so take the first left into Back Lane. Car park and library are on the left.

It can't possibly be as gloopy as it is oop north.

Anyway... if I'm traveling saaaarf then I demand dry trails and your legendary tropical climate. ๐Ÿ˜€

I am coming - free Birthday pass!

I suggested Mrs Dancake made me a cake. Here is the genuine reply

" You can't give forum members a cake I made; that would be utterly irrisponsible..."

That said, Mrs PP has implied that she may make us some parkin. That's only if it won't be wasted. Does anyone like parkin....?

Is the Pope Catholic?

Does a bear shit in the woods?

Does a duck run away from a Frenchman with an orange?

I'm testing the first batch tonight. I'll let you know if it's suitable for general consumption. 8)

Its well gloopy in the Cotswolds but contains very little sand so doesnt hammer the chain/brake pads etc .Like the Peaks/Quantocks/Exmoor does. There will be plenty of water about rained all day today and more on its way tomorrow/Thursday night.Sunny Saturday crap Sunday so you have the right day for your Pootle ๐Ÿ˜†

Monksie - I can bring you some cross tyres if you like, you can swap 'em in the carpark beforehand. Possibly easier for you than riding all the way here on knobblies...

Weather's looking good for Saturday, although it's a little damp today ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

In answer to some questions I've been getting, the idea is that it'll be newbie-friendly; the Maxgnarrcoreradtothepowerofsik factor will be fairly low and no MadSkilz will be required. We're looking at 30-40km, pootle pace. Longish climb to start, but no rush to get up it.

I'm dithering a little about the route though - anyone ridden the descent to Hailes Abbey recently? What state's it in?

I seem to recall Mr Poddy bringing Cake to the Singletrackworld ride from Watlington a few years back. And very good it was too!

smoother than the M5 , its ruined as a climb/descent now they've put the health n safety surface on it .

I haffs made this

[img] [/img]

It's 'sticky ginger cake with lemon icing dribblydrizzle on top'. But I've never made it before and this one hasn't been tested (if we tested it, me and Onzadog would inevitably scoff the lot) so I don't know if it's actually edible.

Although I guess put that amount of sugar and butter in (almost) anything and it's be tasty.

I thought that cake looked familiar. Where did we get the lilac napkin under the plate?
