I have a v3 Soul and quite fancy putting my rev 150/120 forks on it. Thinking as long as I switch it to 120mm on the climbs it will be fine - thoughts?

Think 150 invalidates the warranty.

Soul is not designed for 150mm forks, get a BFe if that's your intentions.

You run the risk of ripping the head tube off (which I'm told is obvious) and will not be warranteed.

So my thoughts would be not (if you intend running 150...).

Would be fine if you stick at 120 though. I run TALAS on mine, just never use the 140 setting (mines the old 130 model).

proper souls have 130mm forks, 1" 1/8' headtubes and 27.2 seattubes. lets the frame move.

They handle fine on 120mm
They probably are nicer on 100 - 110 mm

If you want longer then buy a BFe, that is made to go with the longer forks,

Soul & BFe are the same head angle & geo I was lead to believe with the BFe just being a bit tougher.

Hi
I have 150 forks on mine mainly because I had them lying around.
I know it invalidates the warranty though
Run them with lots of sag and I'm no that hardcore.
Been fine so far
Cheers
Steve

I used to run an old Soul (130mm max) with 140mm sometimes, it was happy enough. But I don't think the frame works that well with longer (had a BFe and it spent most of its time at 140mm too, wound down u-turn Lyriks) So leaving aside the strength concerns I just wouldn't.

I think basically, if you're riding it hard enough for the long forks to make much sense, you're also riding it too hard for overstressing the frame to be a good idea.

Is there any way to shorten the forks?

From the horses mouth......

"Andy,

It's a NO I'm afraid. It's only certified for up to 140s. I know it's
frustrating when a good deal comes along, but it's for your own
safety.

Cheers,

Cy"

I have some 150mm revs spare that I was thinking about using instead of the 120s that are on it. Thanks for the feedback, will leave it as is.

Should really be certified up to a specific A2C really as there's often up to 10mm variation between fork models.

eg: my Fox 36 spacered to 130mm is the same length as a 32 @140mm, one would invalidate the warranty the other wouldn't.

for peace of mind though I wouldn't as you know that's either right at or beyond what it was intended for, just leave it at 120mm, they ride better shorter anyway ๐Ÿ˜‰
