[#3777802]

Hi all, I've just purchased a second hand cotic soul frame and will be building it up over the next couple of months, the one thing that I'm certain about is it will be rigid other than that I'm unsure of what components to build it up with, I want to try and keep costs down where I can , so any ideas?

Also the frame is currently red but I will be respraying it as it has a few stone chips etc so it needs a freshen up, what colour?

Sorry but a Soul is just too fast to be built rigid, plenty of other frames for that. I have a Soul and a rigid but we are all different.

On the rigid fork thing...given the fork travel a Soul is designed for, I'd say 470mm (29er) forks. Singulars steel ones are lovely, really nice feel. 29er because I think 440mm rigids might make it a bit low at the front. Worked for me.
Some low rise non O/S carbon riser bars also, to put a bit of flex in & take the sting out of the trail. As regards the build, you really cant go wrong with SLX, or even Deore for that matter. Be a lovely light build if you stick some Smallblock 8's on for the summer.

Rigid is my only option at the moment because of cost I will eventually get some different forks when funds allow.

If you want to build it up rigid just go for it! Stuck a rigid fork on mine last week and went out for a test ride, felt good -kinda like the rigid bike I had growing up back in the day but with a spec I could only have dreamed of back then!

The forks I'm using are the Pipedream infinity forks ( http://www.pipedreamcycles.com/index_2010.html ) which are such crazy value compared to their direct competition that I'm tempted to get a second set..

The green on Jenn's bike is Pantone 376C.

As dd says above. You have the colour code now so no excuses... ๐Ÿ˜‰
