I've been trying to get some 41c surly knards (120tpi) for a while but everywhere is out of stock. I'm told these will fit in my mk 1 escapade.

anyone tried the wtb nano 40c in an escapade? anyone got any experience of what theyre like for gravel fire road trails, the odd bridleway, back lane etc...?

Great tyres, very well regarded - one set hanging up in 40c and one set fitted in 2.1 flavour

Don't know if they'll fit your bike though!

Awesome tyres and they'll fit with plenty of mud clearance.

Goes through the fork on a mk1 roadrat fine on 23mm internal rims. Fitted at the rear based on slotting the front wheel in, probably a bit tight, might need to run the wheel back a touch. Never fitted it on the rear wheel proper though

I've ran them on my Escapade. Plenty of clearance on the fork but I've had to take it off the rear as it was too tight.

There may be two things contributing to this - running it on a Crest rim, and also there was a suggestion by my lbs that the early nanos were coming out nearer 45mm. Regardless, I've now changed to a 35mm WTB cross boss which has sufficient clearance.

Plenty of room for 40c Smart Sams in my Roadrat. 47c is too tight for mud but does fit with the axle at the back of the dropout. That's on 17mm internal rims.

That looks good Greg. Anyone know the rim width of the std deep section cotic rims?

Run them fine with stans grail rims including full mudguards on my escapade.

To add to my comment above my mate is running 40mm on one gravel roads in his Escapade, so on the basis that lots of people are saying yes there may have been some truth that the early nanos I had were oversized - they've taken paint off the inside of the stays.

Both my mate and I have ridden the nano's and gravel roads on proper off roads I.e. Surrey Hills and Wyre Forest just fine - our Escapades get used off road more than they do on road.

does anyone have the rim measurement for the std cotic supplied wheels - the deep section ones? save me taking a tyre off to check!

Running them tubeless on a Cotic X and there's plenty of room. Vastly superior on and off road to the Continental CX Kings they replaced.

Beware, a shimano 11 Speed 105 front mech just barely clears the 38mm tyre i have fitted to the rear.

I'll try to take some photos tonight. You'll have to pull the wheel back, otherwise it won't clear the front mech.
