Do any of you have one? Can you offer any comments?

Is it due an update soon?

Will it get internally routed cables?

Does anybody know the bare frame weight?

Is the green the best colour Cotic have ever done?

YES! It's an older one. I like it, it's a hoot. Maybe it could be lighter, but you're not buying a steel bike for weight reasons.

Is it due an update soon?

It hasn't really changed much in the last 10 years...but maybe.

Will it get internally routed cables?

Doubtful, and I hope not

Does anybody know the bare frame weight?

Not a clue

Sparkly purple is better, but the green is very nice.

The missus has a UK853 one as her gravel bike set up with 650bx47, GRX 1x12 and a dropper. Proper bling build and she loves it. Gets LOTS of comments and questions about it. Its Crimson which looks classily subdued most of the time but then goes all magenta-sparkley when you put it in the sun and looks stunning.

There's not really a lot to change about them. I'd say they're at the all-road end of the gravel spectrum, but they do that very well and there's always the Cascade if you want ruftier-tuftier. Internal cabling would put as many people off as it attracted (including me). Weight? Meh.

Did I read somewhere there were going to be no more UK853 frames? Missed out last time.

Absolutely love mine.

Can't really help with your questions but the front brake already is internally routed.

Green's nice but the Orange does it for me

Internal routing would be a crying shame. More tyre clearance would be nice but as said the cascade will take 29x2.4 easily and is a Hella fun

Escapade - winter road/gravel lite

Cascade - off road laugh a minute, acceptable road performance with the right tyres but surely no one wants to ride prolonged tarmac sections intentionally other than to get to the next trail?

I live about 12 miles from my nearest forest, the trails there are fairly tame on the MTB, and loading a bike into the car and travelling there and back eats into riding time.  The Escapade is perfect for a road ride there, an explore of the trails, which are much more fun on the gravel bike, then a mix of road and bridleways home.

I just noticed that today is mines 1st birthday!

Agree, what I meant for example was no one wants to do 100k purely on tarmac without a sprinkling of off road.

Riding 12 miles to the forest is more than acceptable.....as long as there's a cafe stop on route 🤪

The new one looks good.

https://www.cotic.co.uk/product/escapade

Two world firsts on this frame:

Making a disc braked 12mm thru-axle dropout with rack and guard mounts look aesthetically pleasing. They should be proud of this one, as I dont think anyone else has managed it.

Combining a steel fork with an OS headtube and not having it look daft.

It's a bit bike packing oriented though. I think a more traditional take on this frame, with more traditional geometry and less bolts everywhere would do well?

Saw this at Bespoked at the weekend and it's really lovely, but although I'm not against going back to a steel fork for utility purposes pairing a straight (even 44mm) headtube with skinny fork legs is a bit jarring to my eyes. It's not as bad as something like the Surly Midnight Special (I think the lower headset cup on the press model helps from certain angles) but personally I'd pay the premium for a nice tapered headtube or a more intricate fork crown to make it a bit more seamless.

I'm not sure what size the show bike was, but it had 50mm tyres with miles of room and I didn't even think it had anything over 40mm it was so nicely proportioned as a whole.

If it had a 31.6 seat tube, I'd have one. I understand why it's 27.2 but I want a long dropper on mine.

Yeah - you can have a Secan 853 frame with carbon fork for £500 less, or a complete build Secan for £600 more

You have to really want your frame UK made, I think

I expect the response would be "That's what the Cascade is for"  - If you want a long dropper post then you probably also want 2.4" tyre clearance and closer to dropbar MTB geometry. But as ever there will be niches within niches and specific use cases.
