Shimano XT bb, what's side do you put the 2.5mm plastic spacer.?
Drive or non drive side.

whichever gives you the best chainline. I found NDS with a 1x9 setup (although i get a bit of chainsuck)

Quite sure the above answer is better, but if it's a 73mm shell (and I think that it is), the instructions should say just one spacer on the drive side.
Just put a 5 together with SLX cranks at the weekend, I don't normally carry such knowledge round in my head (sadly).

it's a 73mm shell, so one spacer on driveside, officially.
