I wish to build a new bike to replace my old hardtail seen the awesome Bfe. They say it's a hardcore beast but could it be tamed into a general all round mountain bike or is it just not the right tool for the job???? Would it be to heavy as a general use machine? any help with build spec would be helpful.
Perhaps look at the Soul instead??
Friend of mine has one and uses it mostly for singletrack, and the occasional trail centre. Wicked bike. Not sure about spec, but there's a ton of old threads that will give more info.
A Soul sounds like exactly what you're looking for surely? Same as a BFe but tamer?
Have mine build up with Pike and N'duro wheels. Real play bike. Lifts over everything and still climbes great even with 80mm stem. Use it for Sunday tours, trail rides and freeride. The faster you go, the more the bike feels in it's element.
Minus point, my back complaints after a day of hard abuse. Could be the age 😉
