Had a topper day out today riding Dreish and Mayar in the Angus Glens. Climbing up Corrie Fee, it looked like it would be a cracking descent. So has anyone ridden it? It looks mint and a bit mire tech than the Kilbo Path which was ace as was Jocks Road. Scotland in the Spring. Happy days!

What a confusing post Sanny. Did you go up Corrie Fee? If you did then you'll be well placed to figure out what kind of down it would make surely?
I've walked it a few times and the top of it is very steep and hence a scramble IIRC.

I'm very jealous... all I managed over the weekend was hrmmmph-hurgh-harrumph

Aye. I walked up it and kept thinking that with all the stone pitching, it could make for a pretty special albeit uber tech downhill. No idea how much would be doable though I reckon most of it would go. We took a gamble going up it and there were no hands and knee moments so I wouldn't call it a scramble as such.

The Kilbo Path and Jocks Road were just terrific. It was the perfect day for it. Two big hills, two great descents. 😀 Next time we're up, we'll give you a shout. Planning a big loop to take in Mount Keen, Glen Esk and Loch Muick as a day ride circuit if you fancy?

Have you been up Loch Brandy way? It looks like there are lots of descent options off it when looking up the hillside.

Cheers

Sanny

Hmmm, perhaps I remember it as a scramble because I've tended to do it in the winter or early spring so your limited as to where to climb out via snow or cornice...

Kilbo is epic.

Did you go up Bachnagain/Skellies and Pass Loch Esk to Jocks, then up Corrie Fee to Mayar/Dreish, then out via Kilbo?

lots of options yes - been a while 6/7 years iirc but its best ridden as a loop anti clockwise giving the best descent.

lots of the trail has been sanitised since the last time i rode the loop though - looked like the descent from the cliff top was still as was though. i was just passing through to glen esk last and was quite thankful for the sanitisation tbh it used to be a right gyp

No map but route was up Corrie Fee, summit of Mayar, accross to Dreish, return via the steep exposed path above the corrie to the bealach then down Kilbo. Back to the car park for spare tubes then up and down Jocks Road to catch the late afternoon sunshine. Skellies is a nice loop. Rode that last time.

Loch Brandy sounds good. So much in the way of big mountain riding up there.

Cheers
