Hi ,
has anyone done it or do you know if it is possible to convert an old rear mavic hub that is 135 x whatever so that it can fit in 142 x 12 spaced frame.
the hub is I think a 2005 crosstrail like in the pictures linked.

Short answer - nope.
Longer answer - nope, wrong axle, and bearings the wrong size.
