Well as this is the place for everything...
Hypothetically of course... It is being suggested that my dept changes its working hours currently a 35 hour, 9-5, Mon-Fri week with OT at 1.5
The proposal is a 35 hour 8.00-18.00 semi shift arrangement( 8.00-16.00 or 10.00-18.00). This I don't have a problem with it.
BUT
The additional bit is that they want to throw 1 in 4 Saturdays 8.00-13.00 in to the mix with a 1/2 day in lieu.
So
1. HR believe that the move to working weekends is only a minor contractual change?
2. The 5 hours Sat am is more than the half day their offering in lieu
3. A Sat morning in their current contract would 1.5 time which would be a whole day+ in lieu
Is this a big enough shift the business should be in a full consultancy period with redundancy on the table?
