That mega tower actually looked alright to me if the guy came back to you. As long as it didn’t cost you too much that is. You’ll lose some pop but gain some monster truck through rough stuff.

If you’d gone ML size I think you’d have got on fine with it

I hope so because I've just bought one 😬

@phil5556 how tall are you?

I’m 5’9 and I know people my size / slightly shorter that got on with the ML Aeris 145 I struggled on. I was happier on the medium Aether 7 - but I’ve got longer legs / shorter torso / arms for my height. My current bike is a medium Sentinel which is ever so slightly shorter than the Aether and I love this bike too.

I found Bird bikes really decent for the money and if they’d been in stock at the end of December I’d be on either an Aether 9c or 9a in medium. But they weren’t.

I’m 5’11”

And didn’t buy the L on your advice 👍
I’m hoping the ML will work, it’s 20mm longer than the Whyte and I had started feeling that the Whyte was a bit short.
I’d really wanted to demo one but wasn’t going to be able to sort it out.

(Someone was selling one locally but I upset him with a low offer so he stopped talking to me 🤣)

The only one i think could still fly is the Slayer… but damn it’s a drive… it does tick a LOT of boxes… but arguably no more or less than say a G-180 which i could get for less money.

The Slayer does also tick the box of being OK to look at, I can't see how you won't consider a Geometron on looks but will happily own a Whyte 🙂

Dunno man, I can't work out how the wife married me, I'm more Whyte than the Whyte. But someone somewhere loves everyone

I can’t see how anyone with eyes can buy the Whyte G180

Hi weeksy. Can you pm me a link to your trek listing and dare I say it... your best price.

I'm trying to get my mate to splash for an occam but he's pleading penniary ( sp)

He's a trek fanboi so may bite.

Done fella.

I don't think I'm asking crazy money considering its condition and it's initial price. But whether it's a bad market or just a bike that's not popular this week, I'm not sure.

If he's interested, you know how to get me

I think second hand Bike sales are slow at the moment, I’ve been looking and there are quite a few bikes that have seemingly been for sale for weeks.

Not trying to take away from Weeksy’s sale but Sigma seem to have a lot of stock in their alu Occam sale which is now down to £2625 for an SLX H20 LT.

Just looking round on Ebay and Pinkbike, people are having to slash lots and lots off their prices and still not selling them

https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/3381486/

This for example,
[img] [/img]
Ohlins TTX 180-90mm travel forks cost only £1,300,
Rockshox Delux 170mm travel Rear Shock,
Hope Tech 3 lever brakes & Hope evo 4 calipres & Hope Rottors,
Hope pro 4 hubs sat on stain wheels with schewalbe tyres,
Hope Carbon wide bar,
Ks Dropper seat post,
Sram gears and cog 11 speed with Hope cassette,
Hope flat pedals

I mean that's a cracking spec... £2150 , so realistically they'd take £2000... maybe even £1900 for it. It's been up for sale since JULY ! THat's just one of them i like.

That Slayer was first listed at £4200 as an ex-display, never ridden, then £3500, now £3000 and he's still got it.

https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/3344228/

Of course, some bikes are still selling... but i think they're specific bikes. Arguable ones with little electric motors attached to them.

Not really sure the Trek is going to fly out, so it looks like it'll be getting muddy today.

Heck, i even put an offer of £1600 in for the green large Fury.. Last Sat in chats we had "OK, if you can do £1600 it's yours and we'll meet at XYZ"... So i offer £1600 and he goes completely silent lol. It's not like i wanted a trade, i was buying cash...

No advert of mine in this thread matey, just random discussions...

FWIW, that Orbea is exactly why the Trek isn't selling. Some aspects of that build are great for the money. Obviously it's not carbon etc, but it's cracking value for a new bike that's for sure.

I came here to say - why not a Commencal? 🙂 seeing as they seem to win everything !

..Except the EWS, which is won by Altitudes rather than Slayers. Paulscycles have great deals on RMs.

Unless someone bought the Trek it's really a non-discussion. I can't really have another bike with how things are in the garage... i can change/sell/swap, but adding another without any going out doesn't really work.

I'd buy that Clash all day though and indeed i could if i accept the Trek will sell eventually...

Of course... but that doesn't mean my acceptable and it's value are necessarily the same.

🙂

But the discussion is over now as i've purchased a new bike anyway.

When have you booked Dyfi? I have now ridden it in the dry, and in the wet, it is awesome in both conditions just more cleaning required after the latter.
