The Conti Gravity Protections (2.3 folders) on my 5" FS are wearing out, and don't seem to be available any more. Conti still do Vertical Protections (which I have on a hardtail and like), now in Black Chili - anybody tried them in this compound, or recommend a suitable similar weight substitute for the Gravitys? This is mostly for XC stony hardpack, roots and sand, leafmould style non sticky mud, and some tarmac (so soft fast wearing tyres are out).
Thanks, Max
I've used the vertical protections 2.3 - totaly different tread pattern to the Gravitys (which seem to look more like the old mountain kings) The verticals were grippy enough but seemed a little bit draggy. I prefer bigger volume tyres and so swapped them out for rubber queens which have been the best all round tyres I've used - very fast but still half decent cornering.
I'm currently running a small block 8 on the rear after being sucked in by the hype but I have to say that I've found it a fairly average all round tyre.
